  • Intel plans to strengthen its position in the mining components market
  • The company announced plans to introduce a new, ultra-energy-efficient “Bonanza Mining” processor
  • The presentation will take place as part of an international conference at the end of February.

Yesterday, January 18, Tom's Hardware published the news that the tech giant Intel is preparing a special gift for all crypto miners. The company plans to introduce a new chip "Bonanza Mining" on February 23. Its distinctive feature is high energy efficiency.

The presentation will take place at the International Conference on Monolithic Integrated Circuits (ISCC) in San Francisco. The event is scheduled for February 20-24.

The development puts Intel on par with industry giants like Bitmain and MicroBT. But that's if the chip is made available to the public rather than part of a larger research project.

Note that ASIC is a specialized integrated circuit that is widely used in crypto mining. The company first announced a new product in this area back in 2018. At that time, Intel filed a patent application for the development of technology for highly efficient and low-cost mining.

Notably, in December, Intel’s senior vice president of architecture, graphics, and software Raja Koduri confirmed rumors that the company was working on a dedicated mining rig. It’s possible that the chip is part of that project.
