  • MakerDAO Moves Part of Reserves into US Securities
  • These will be corporate and treasury bonds.
  • They will conduct the first test translation today.

The oldest DeFi project MakerDAO is transferring part of its stablecoin reserves into US securities. This decision was made by DAO. They agreed to invest $500 million in US corporate and treasury bonds. Today, they will conduct a test transaction of $1 million. The rest of the funds will be invested in securities in the coming days.

MakerDAO participants explained their decision by the desire to strengthen the project's balance sheet with liquid and low-risk traditional assets.

The project's partner was the DeFi consulting company Monetalis.

The investments will be distributed as follows. The company will purchase 80% of the sum in short-term treasury bonds, and the remaining 20% will go to corporate bonds. At the same time, $500 million will be equally divided between asset managers Signum Bank and Baillie Gifford. And Monetalis will act as a provider.

It is the first blockchain company to invest in traditional securities.

Recently, the platform's co-founder Rune Christensen proposed making the decentralized stablecoin DAI independent of the dollar . Members of the crypto community considered the idea too radical and dangerous for the future of the project.
