  • Animoca Brands has announced partnerships with two projects: Opal Protocol and Saakuru Labs.
  • The firm plans to build a separate ecosystem of Web3 gaming, entertainment, and DeFi on the Bitcoin network.
  • As part of a partnership with Opal Protocol, it will launch a Runes-standard BLIF token.

Hong Kong-based game developer and developer Animoca Brands, in partnership with the Darewise platform, announced the launch of the BLIF token on the Bitcoin network via the Opal Protocol.

According to a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Animoca Brands is looking to build a dedicated ecosystem for gaming, entertainment, decentralized finance (DeFi), and education on the Bitcoin blockchain. To do so, it plans to integrate BLIF, which is built on the new Runes token standard.

“BLIF will be the Opal Protocol token, enabling true digital life on and off the Bitcoin network. All future Animoca Brands projects related to this asset will be supported by the Opal Protocol,” the firm said.

The announcement states that the Animoca Brands initiative has been supported by projects such as Magic Eden, Xverse, HorizenLabs, and ALEX. In turn, Darewise Chief Product Officer Vincent Marty called the BLIF token “a universal incentive that promotes collaboration and innovation across the ecosystem.”

Animoca Brands also announced a new partnership with Saakuru Labs, which is developing the Saakuru second-tier network. The collaboration is expected to increase the distribution of Web3 games and strengthen the Hong Kong company's influence in the Southeast Asian market.

Analysts predict that this year the capitalization of the Web3 market will grow from $3.19 billion to $4.43 billion. Meanwhile, by 2028 it could reach $16.3 billion.
