  • SGX to offer perpetual bitcoin futures to select investors
  • The new product will be launched later in 2025, subject to regulatory approval.

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) plans to launch trading of perpetual bitcoin futures in the second half of 2025, Bloomberg reports , citing a company press release.

The contracts will be available only to institutional and professional investors. SGX believes that the offering will significantly expand the market reach of these categories of traders.

In a statement, the exchange noted that the product has received approval from both TradFi and DeFi representatives. However, it still needs to be registered with the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

The company noted that it has an Aa2 rating from Moody's, which, according to a representative of SGX, sets the exchange apart from cryptocurrency platforms that also offer perpetual futures trading.

Note that these contracts differ from regular ones in that they have no expiration date. This allows you to speculate on the change in crypto asset prices for as long as you like, since their term is automatically extended.
